Did you know that the regulations for narcotics storage in long-term care facilities have changed? There are now upgraded security and storage standards, and our Smart Narc Box is currently the only product that meets these standards and regulations!
What is a SmartNarc Box?
Our SmartNarc Box was created to solve any and all problems regarding the storage and security of controlled substances in long-term care facilities. The SNB allows users to utilize their existing badges, proximity cards, fobs, or PIN numbers, instead of using anonymous keyed locks that could be opened by anyone. This means that instead of questioning who is retrieving controlled substances, and when it’s happening, you’ll now have a recorded log of any instance the SNB is opened, and for how long.
The SmartNarc Box is the most secure way to store narcotics on the market. The SmartNarc Box is made from heavy duty twenty-gauge steel with a powder-coated finish. It features a double-walled outer door and a inner door panel, both attached with full-length continuous hinges. The box dimensions are: 18” W x 30” H x 9” D. The boxes are made domestically in New York State.
The SmartNarc Box utilizes ProxTraq, which is a cloud-based web portal and mobile app, that allows setting and managing the lock access parameters and generating audit trails. As of June, 2023, BNE has approved the use of smart lock technology for narcotics storage by Class 3A-licensed facilities. BNE Storage Guidelines – NYS IO NYCC Section 80.50 (c)(1).
SmartNarc Solutions:
The SmartNarc Box solves a decades-long issue of medicine going bad, not being secure, and using outdated technology. Long-term care facilities are responsible for medication management for all their residents or patients, as well as dealing with pharmacies and constant deliveries. While pharmacies play a major role in the health and well-being of residents in these facilities, their operating models have not adjusted to the rapidly changing environment that facilities face today.
Nurse staffing is also at a critically low level, and staff are often being pulled in many different directions while providing vital resident care and regulatory compliance. The SmartNarc box alleviates many of the active concerns that long-term care providers have about security and safety.
